Who We Are
Beer Serves America is sponsored by the Beer Institute and National Beer Wholesalers
Association (NBWA), representing America's leading brewers and distributors of fine
quality beers.
Beer Institute
Beer Institute
was organized in 1986 to represent the industry before Congress, state legislatures
and public forums across the country. It is committed to developing sound public
policy that focuses on community involvement and personal responsibility.
As the recognized and authoritative source of information on aspects of the
industry, Beer Institute focuses on these principles through its representation,
information and service. Beer Institute assures a role for industry members in formulating
public policy goals and works to implement our goals by providing representation
before federal and state governmental bodies.
Today, over a thousand breweries in the U.S. are responsible for billions of
dollars that flow each year through channels of American trade and commerce. From
agricultural products, food processing, food stores and general retail, to wholesaling,
construction and real estate, brewers, along with their wholesale and retail partners,
directly or indirectly employ millions of Americans who earn billions in wages and
benefits each year.

NBWA
The National Beer Wholesalers
Association (NBWA)
was founded in 1938 as a trade association for the nation's beer distributors. The
purpose of NBWA is to provide leadership which enhances the industry of the independent
malt beverage distributor; to advocate before government and the public on behalf
of its members; to encourage the responsible consumption of beer; and to provide
programs and services that will enhance members' efficiency and effectiveness.
The beer industry which includes brewers, distributors and retailers is a major
player in the U.S. economy. The US is the second largest producer of beer in the
world. Over 90 million Americans enjoy a glass of beer, and beer represents 88 percent
volume of all licensed beverages sold in the U.S.
The National Beer Wholesalers Association represents the second tier of licensed
independent beer distributors, with operations located in every congressional district
across the country. For more information regarding NBWA and its activities, please
contact the Public Affairs office at (703) 683-4300.
Together, the Beer Institute and NBWA are proud to brew and distribute some of the
world's finest, quality beers. And we're proud to represent Beer, America's beverage.
