Civic & Community Programs
American brewers and distributors are responsible corporate citizens who deeply
care about our employees, our customers, and the communities in which we do business.
Individually, collectively, and in partnership with nonprofit organizations, brewers
and distributors have been prominent participants in these community efforts:
- Corporate philanthropy: Brewers
and their charitable arms and Foundations have donated millions of dollars to community-based
organizations, including those involved with education, health care, the arts, social
services, and the environment.
- Diversity programs: Many of America’s
brewers have initiated programs to encourage a diverse workforce and supplier network.
- A core principle for Heineken USA states, "We value diversity and
treat each other with dignity and respect." As such, we have developed significant
and numerous relationships with organizations dedicated to promoting diversity,
equality and empowerment.
- Education: Most major brewing companies
operate or sponsor scholarship programs, including scholarships for minorities and
inner-city youth, and support programs and initiatives that provide educational
and leadership development opportunities.
-
Responsibility in Community programs: Brewers and distributors nationwide
are sponsors and participants in school education programs, safe rides home, recycling
programs, alcohol-free after prom and graduation parties, training courses for licensed
beverage servers, and safe boating campaigns.
- Community health efforts: Brewers
have initiated immunization and health screening programs. For example, Anheuser-Busch’s
Community Health Mobile each year travels to 50 cities providing immunizations and
screenings to the underserved.
