The U.S. brewing industry has a vested interest to ensure all products we sell are
consumed as intended: responsibly by legal drinking age adults. We also have a strong
commitment to preserve and protect the environment during the production of their
products.
With that in mind, over the past decade the industry has spent nearly a half billion
dollars on alcohol awareness and education
programs designed to help prevent alcohol abuse. Their efforts include funding research,
public safety efforts, education, and alcohol abuse prevention campaigns. And these
efforts are working. According to government statistics, drunk driving and underage
drinking are at their lowest levels since record-keeping began.
Brewers are also concerned about the impact of product packaging on the environment.
Brewers were the leaders in adopting aluminum beverage cans and initiating aluminum
recycling programs and are the largest
recyclers of aluminum in the country. They also have had significant success in
reducing the solid waste at their breweries.
